Book Tour Spotlight Soulless by Jacinta Maree w/ Giveaway
SOULLESS
by Jacinta Maree
GENRE: Dystopian New Adult
BLURB:
We are the generation that laughs at
death.
Reincarnation; what was once
considered a gift of immortality has become an eternity of nightmares.
Nadia Richards lives in a world
plagued by reincarnation, a system of recycling souls where all past memories,
personalities and traumatic events are relived daily in disjointed sequences.
Trapped within their own warped realities, not even the richest and most
powerful are saved from their own minds unraveling. Madness is the new human
nature, and civilizations are crumpling beneath themselves trying to outrun
it.
Within a society that ignores death,
Nadia appears to be the one exception to the reincarnation trap. Born without
any reincarnated memories and with printless eyes, the hot tempered 19 year old
quickly becomes the ultimate prize to all those wishing to end the vicious
cycle, or for some, to ensure they could evade death forever.
Excerpt:
His top lip curled, as it
always did in his half smile. “I can’t stop thinking about it.”
“About what?”
In his hands, he fiddled
with the hunting knife. “You.” He twisted the blade and flicked out, clearing
the dirt under his nails. “You were going to leave me. You said it was better
this way, for the both of us.” The rasp of his accusing voice felt like a
guillotine above my neck.
I uncomfortably shuffled
back but didn’t speak.
“You were right. Your life
without me would be better. Easier. Safer.” Every word strained from his lips
as though he was pushing air from the pit of his stomach. My eyes widened and
my heart picked up speed. Diesel lightly shook his head. “But this isn’t about
making things easier. You’re with me now and you won’t leave no matter how hard
it gets.”
“That’s not for you to
decide,” I said with a cringe.
“Because if you leave me—”
With an anguished sign, I
turned my head away. “Let me guess, you’ll always find me? And if I try to run
you will break my legs and chop off my fingers and remove my eyes-”
“No. If you leave me, I will
vanish… and I don’t want to vanish, Nadia.”
Surprised, my jaw went
slack. Without even blinking, Diesel stilled his fumbling and tightened his
stare, looking at me in a way I felt penetrated to my very core.
“You don’t know what it’s
like living in this hell. I’m drowning under black water and I can never
surface. You remember what it feels like to have your body shut down only to
wake up not knowing which reality is real. It would’ve been easier to fade into
a drifter, to stop the fight all together and just crumple into the purest of
insanities. In my darkest moments I almost allowed it to happen, but then I met
you. The girl with no reincarnated memories. The one without a soul imprint.
It’s you, and only you, who can save me. But then you came into my room with that
story about how everything would be better if we were separated. You left me
tied to a bed, and for hours I thought I had lost you. Do you know how that
feels? To have everything you’ve ever wanted just walk out? I came to realise
just how dangerous you are to me. Just how easily you can break me in half.
That’s why I can’t let you leave.”

Book Tour The Last Ten Pounds by Lina Sage w/ Giveaway and Guest Post
The Last Ten Pounds: One Woman's Journey to Love (by shedding Fear,
Anger, Hatred...and Everything In-Between)
by Lina Sage
GENRE: Memoir
BLURB:
Shortly
after I was born, my family left Vietnam’s strict Communist regime
by escaping on a tiny fishing boat in the middle of the night.
Luckily,
Canada
accepted us as refugees and we were excited for a new beginning. However, any
hopes of a brighter future vanished before an abusive alcoholic father who’s
repeated physical violence against my mom left me screaming for any stability.
Sexual, physical and emotional abuse clouded my childhood years leaving me so
damaged that it changed who I was meant to grow up to be.
In
my early twenties, I bought a house and converted it into a full blown
marijuana grow op.
Soon
after, I entered into the world of elite call girls and became one of the most
sought after girls in my agency. By my late twenties, I was on top of the world
and the proud owner of a multi-million-dollar luxury day spa.
Just
when I thought I had it all, I made the ultimate mistake that ended in me
losing everything and hitting rock bottom.
I
was spiritually broken and in desperate need of healing. I had no choice but to
reconcile with my past. This decision brought me down a miraculous journey that
opened me up to consciousness and enabled me to exist in the space I do today;
that of uninhibited peace.
Excerpt:
“Uncle
Quinn… please stop. Please stop Uncle Quinn! Stop it you’re hurting me!” I
wailed loudly.
“Shhh…
I’m just playing with you,” he replied with a sly look on his face, as he
continued to grope me with both hands.
This
had happened many times before, the constant touching and fondling of my
private parts every time Uncle Quinn saw me. See the thing is, I didn’t make it
easy for him because of my feisty nature. Usually I would be able to run away
before he could really get a hold of me and on the times that I couldn’t get
away, his inappropriateness would only last a few minutes until I would squirm
so hard that he would finally release me from his grasp.
Guest Post
If
I’d never heard of me would I read my book? Why?
I would read my
book if I’d never heard of myself because I’m a big fan of memoirs and
spiritual/self-help books and my book is a combination of those two genres. Not
to sound narcissistic, but I really wished there was a book like mine available
when I was going through my rock bottom. There were plenty of self-help books
out there and, believe me, I bought and read many of
them. I never felt like it showed me ‘the how’. Rather, I found that those
books always talked about how you would feel once you arrived to that better
place in your life. I read the words on those books blankly because the
destination seemed fantastic but I needed to know how I could get to that better place. I was in need of guidance
and someone that I could read about and relate to.
Studies have shown
that 1 in 5 girls are victims of child sex abuse, although the actual number
could be much higher as most cases of abuse go unreported. I was one of those
girls whose cases went unreported. I, therefore carried the pain throughout my
adult life resulting in immense self-hatred.
With my
transformation, I realized that forgiveness was the key. It's not as simple as
accepting an apology from those who have wronged you because if that were true,
why do so many of us recant the past, bringing that person's wrongful action up
every time there's an argument? True forgiveness can only happen when you
relinquish that person's power over you, claim it for yourself and not allowing
the name of that person to trigger any emotion from you.
It took me years to exist in the space I do today. My
memoir, The Last Ten Pounds, started off as a personal project to help me
process, deal with and heal from the emotional traumas from my past. It
originally started off as nothing more than scribbled notes in my journal.
Before long, it had filled an entire book. That’s when I realized that my
personal project was so much more than journal entries. It was meant to be
shared with the world and maybe along the way help to inspire people in their
own personal struggles. If I my book can
do that than I have done my job.

Excerpt:
The angel touched down lightly on the sand. A supremely beautiful face made Sara want to cry with joy.
"I am Barachiel, chief of the guardian angels. You are Sara Bass"
Sara nodded. "What can I do for you?"
"The Lords of Hell screwed up and allowed an evil soul to escape to Earth. Now we have to clean up their mess."
"Oh. Sounds awful. What do you want me to do?"
Sara nodded. "What can I do for you?"
"The Lords of Hell screwed up and allowed an evil soul to escape to Earth. Now we have to clean up their mess."
"Oh. Sounds awful. What do you want me to do?"
"Go back to Earth as part of a search team," Barachiel said. "The soul belongs to a serial killer, and he has started to kill again. It's a uniquely important assignment."
"I guess you know my background. I was a medical examiner for many years."
"We picked you because of your background."
"We?" Sara said.
"The Council of Light."
The enormous magnitude of the situation was dawning on Sara. Of all the many millions of souls in Heaven, the Council had chosen her to return to Earth.
"Does this kind of thing happen often?"
"It has never happened before," Barachiel said. "This search team concept is completely new. It might be a disaster, but we don't have any other options. Regular angels aren't suited for something like this. Hell is sending its own representatives. Try to be polite even if they smell bad."
Sara wrinkled her nose.
"And of course, you can come back to Heaven any time you want," Barachiel added. "If the job proves too much for you, we can find a replacement."
"I'm sure that won't be necessary." Sara was looking forward to doing something useful again. "But how did this happen? I didn't think it was possible to escape from Hell."
Barachiel shrugged its beautiful shoulders. "I'm sure incompetence was the cause. Demons are so consumed by sinful thoughts they can't think clearly. Regardless, it's a big mess now. With all the bickering and accusations, you would think the Apocalypse had arrived."
Sara doubted the explanation was so simple.
